  3. Read the total XP and the time — keep the pet fed the whole time.

How much XP each age needs

Going from age n to n + 1 costs floor(20 × n^2.02) XP. Early ages are quick, but the cost climbs steeply:

From → toTotal XPAt 0.52 XP/s (default)
Age 1 → 105,9183h 9m 41s
Age 1 → 25103,7662d 7h 25m
Age 1 → 50868,30519d 7h 50m
Age 50 → 752,116,45647d 2h 35m
Age 50 → 1006,283,809139d 20h 44m
Age 1 → 1007,152,114159d 4h 34m

Levels 50 to 100 cost about seven times as much XP as levels 1 to 50, which is why helper pets matter so much in the late game.

Frequently asked questions

How much XP does a pet need to reach age 50?

Going from age 1 to age 50 takes 868,305 XP. Age 1 to 100 takes 7,152,114 XP, because each age costs floor(20 × age^2.02) XP.

What is the fastest way to level a pet?

Keep it fed, place a Capybara (+3 XP/s) and several Owls (+0.25 XP/s each), use treats, and prefer Inverted (+30%) or Shiny (+15%) pets.

Does a pet gain XP when it is hungry?

No. XP only builds while the hunger bar has food in it. The Starfish is the exception — it levels on its own.
