How crop value is calculated in Grow a Garden

The exact pricing formula, why weight is squared, and why mutations add instead of multiply.

Updated

The formula in one line

Value = base value × (weight ÷ base weight)² × variant × (1 + Σ(mutation − 1)) × (1 + friend boost)

Each part is explained below. If you just want the number, use the crop value calculator.

Base value and base weight

Every crop type has a fixed base value — the price of a plain fruit at its base weight. A Carrot’s base value is 18 Sheckles at 0.275 kg; a Mushroom’s is 136,278 at 25.9 kg. The value list has every crop.

Why weight is squared

Weight scales value by the square of the weight ratio. A fruit at twice the base weight is worth 4×; at three times, 9×. Fruit lighter than base weight does not lose value — the price never drops below base value.

Growth variants multiply everything

Silver (5x), Gold (20x) and Rainbow (50x) are growth variants. A crop can only have one, and it multiplies the entire result — including all mutations.

Mutations add together

This is the rule most players get wrong. Environment mutations are added, not multiplied: the multiplier is 1 plus the sum of each mutation’s bonus above 1.

  • Wet (2x) alone → 1 + 1 = 2x
  • Wet + Shocked → 1 + 1 + 99 = 101x (not 200x)
  • Shocked + Celestial + Dawnbound → 1 + 99 + 119 + 149 = 368x

So a plain Moon Mango (45,125) that gets Shocked is worth 4,512,500 (4.51M). Add Gold and that whole amount is multiplied by 20.

Friend boost

Friends in your server raise sell value by a percentage (up to +50% in the calculator). It multiplies the final value, so it matters most on already-valuable fruit.
